Yes, the same will apply for any server you are trying to run. |

| Go to the page:

It describes how to set up port forwarding for your router. |

| | You would really be better off asking the tech support guys over at netgear what settings you need at this point. Once you have the info from them and the router is reconfigured, we can probly chew thru anything mud related in short order. |

| Im thinking about not doin my own server becasue there are 2 OTHER computer connected to the router, and i dont want to mess any of the settings up, i just wanted my computer to be able to run a server, and if i was to put dmz on all of the computers would be affectedd, and i dont know the number of ne of the guys at netgear and i dont want to call, my parents wouldnt understand why im doin this and they would probably say it would waste money, and i shouldnt be messing wiht the settings at all.
If only there was a way i could set up this computer im on to run a server.
Who would have thought it would have been such a b!%(# to set up a server.
Thanks for all the info.
If anyone can give me info on how to do it so no other computers are affected by the settings i would love the info.
Thanks again,

| I won't be able to port forward because i read on a website this::::
Simply put, port forwarding does not work. When trying to add new rules for port forwarding, the router would lock up and crash time after time. Also, if you wanted to forward more than one port to the same computer, the router would give you an error. The problem is fixed if you upgrade from v1.3 of the firmware to v1.4 but it is a beta version and not supported. In fact, by upgrading you actually lose functionality because the content filtering no longer works. Come on Netgear, you are supposed to fix bugs, not create new ones!!

| | SecureCRT is little more than a remote client. In and of itself, it has no file management capabilities though it does allow for authenticated logins if you have some actual security setup on your system. You would still need something else - seperate folders, CVS, whatever - to track and manage code changes to each mud you intend to host. |
